Wasps complete fourth quarter comeback versus MHU

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (3-13, 0-9 SAC) was defeated by Emory & Henry (7-11, 4-6 SAC) by a score of 65-61 Wednesday night.
Mars Hill carried a 55-43 lead heading into the final 10 minutes of play. The Wasps shot a team-high 50 percent from the floor in the fourth, netting 22 points to the Lions' six. Emory & Henry was led by the duo of Emma Santoro and Breanna Yarber.
The Lions' offense was clicking on all cylinders in the first, shooting 75 percent from the floor and draining 6-of-7 three point attempts. Jo Snow led the Lions with nine points while Naja Ngongba added seven as the Lions outscored the Wasps 25-9 after 10 minutes of play.
Emory & Henry shot just over 47 percent from the floor in the second, outscoring the Lions 21-18 and entered the half trailing by 13, 43-30. Santoro led E&H with 12 points at the half while Snow led Mars Hill with 13, going 4-of-5 from beyond the arc.
In the lowest scoring quarter of the contest, E&H outscored Mars Hill 13-12 as Santoro scored seven of the team's points. Both teams shot 33 percent from the floor in the frame.
The Lions shot 44 percent to Emory & Henry's 38. The Lions hit 11 threes on the night as both Snow and Maddie Gillie hit four apiece.
Santoro led all players with 19 points followed by Yarber's 18 on the night. Ngongba led the Lions with 17 followed by 15 from Snow.
Mars Hill returns to action on Saturday, January 28 when they take on Wingate on the road. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
