Harty Sets Two School Records in Duel Meet Against Lenoir-Rhyne
Freshman Abby Harty set two school records in the Lions' home opener on Saturday
MARS HILL, N.C.- Freshman Abby Harty set two school records but it wasn't enough for the Mars Hill women's swimming team to overcome visiting Lenoir-Rhyne as the Bears emerged with a 109-85 win.
Harty set a new record in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:09.85, topping the previous record by over a second. Harty also set a school record in the 200 Yard IM, breaking the old record of 2:15.13 with a new time of 2:14.49. She claimed her second win of the meet in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, teaming with Elle Grier, Rachel Louviaux and Maggie Mills to win in 1:58.56. Harty also finished in second in the 200 Yard IM.
Mills also won three races, taking first place in the 50 Yard Freestyle (26.33) and 100 Yard Freestyle (57.41) in addition to her relay win. Grier claimed the 1000 Yard Freestyle (11:28.37) and was second in the 500 Yard Freestyle. Emma Duffy finished in second place in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with Maggie Norton claiming a runner-up finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle.
Mars Hill makes the short trip to Milligan,Tenn. for a tri-meet against Milligan and Union College on Friday.
