Harty Named ASC Swimmer of the Week
Abby Harty broke four school records and recorded an NCAA Division II “B” cut to win her fifth swimmer of the week award.
SOUTH EUCLID, OHIO - Abby Harty broke four school records and recorded an NCAA Division II "B" cut as the Lions competed at the Wingate University Fall Frenzy.
Harty's top performance came in the 500 Freestyle as she earned her first NCAA cut with a school record swim of 5:05.38. She would set her next school record as she swam to a 2:08.97 and eleventh place finish in the 200 Individual Medley. Her last school records came in the Breaststroke events as she swam 1:06.75 in the 100 (10th place) and 2:23.95 in the 200 (9th place). Lastly, Harty had some quality relay swims as she split 31.33 on the Breaststroke leg of the 200 Medley Relay (1:54.79, 27th place), 1:06.75 on the Breaststroke leg of the 400 Medley Relay (4:12.18, 29th place) and led-off the 800 Free Relay in 1:57.29 (8:09.35, 20th place).
The freshman from Johns Creek, Georgia currently ranks in the conference in the following events: 50 Freestyle (22nd), 100 Freestyle (17th), 200 Freestyle (1st), 500 Freestyle (1st), 100 Breaststroke (1st), 200 Breaststroke (1st), 100 Butterfly (19th), 200 IM (1st), and 400 IM (3rd). This is the fifth time this season Harty has been named the ASC Women's Swimmer of the Week.
