Lions Set 13 School Records at Fall Frenzy Invitational
The Mars Hill swimming teams saw eight student-athletes set 13 new school records as well as achieve one NCAA Division II “B” cut over the weekend at the Fall Frenzy Invitational.
MARS HILL, N.C.- The Mars Hill swimming teams saw eight student-athletes set 13 new school records as well as achieve one NCAA Division II "B" cut over the weekend at the Fall Frenzy Invitational.
Abby Harty broke four school records, setting new marks in the 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:06.75), 200 Yard Breaststroke (2:23.95), 200 Individual Medley (2:08.97) and 500 Yard Freestyle (5:05.38). Harty's 500 Freestyle time eclipses the mark required for an NCAA "B" cut.
Elle Grier set new school records in the 1000 Freestyle (10:54.670 and the 1650 Freestyle (18:18.06).
The men's 800 Freestyle Relay team of Trey Mason, David Hallberg, Justin Gale and Brett Malmstrom set a new school record with a time of 7:06.66. Hallberg set three individual records as he swam to new marks in the 500 Freestyle (4:45.49), 1000 Freestyle (10:00.86) and 1650 Freestyle (16:35.25). Mason set the school record in the 200 Freestyle (1:43.37).
Ludovico Corsini claimed a new record in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, finishing in 56.74 seconds. Brian Davis set the second men's breaststroke record of the weekend as he put his name in the history books with a time of 2:05.90.
The Fall Frenzy Invitational was hosted by Wingate University at the Mecklenburg Aquatic Center and served as the final meet for the Lions this fall. Mars Hill continues the 2014-15 season on Saturday, January 10 at Catawba.
