Mars Hill opens road series with Lenoir-Rhyne
The Mars Hill baseball team (7-24, 4-9 SAC) was defeated by Lenoir-Rhyne (23-8, 7-3 SAC) by a score of 22-7 Friday night.

HICKORY, N.C. - The Mars Hill baseball team (7-24, 4-9 SAC) was defeated by Lenoir-Rhyne (23-8, 7-3 SAC) by a score of 22-7 Friday night.
Mars Hill opened the scoring in the top of the first, scoring two runs off of Bears' mishaps. Lenoir-Rhyne responded in the bottom half of the frame, Lenoir-Rhyne plated five.
The Lions retook the lead in the top of the second, plating four runs. Trevor Bailey's solo home run was followed up later in the inning by Jordan Lathe's RBI double. Lathe, along with Zach Weaver, later crossed home off of Tyler Seller's two-run double down the left field line.
In the bottom of the third, the Bears scored eight runs, highlighted by Tyler McPeak's three-run home run. Lenoir-Rhyne led 13-6 after three.
Weaver scored the final Mars Hill run of the contest with a solo home run in the top of the fourth. Lenoir-Rhyne would go on to score nine unanswerd runs between the fourth and sixth innings.
Sal Carricato led all players with five hits while three Bears posted three hits apiece. Bryce Stober led all players with four RBI. Lathe and Chapel Matson led the Lions with two hits apiece while Sellers led the team with two RBI.
The series continues on Saturday, March 25 where the teams will play two. First pitch for game one is set for 1 p.m.
