
Mars Hill opens SAC play against No. 22 Wingate
The Mars Hill baseball team (2-12, 0-1 SAC) was defeated by No. 22 Wingate (10-3, 1-0 SAC) by a score of 4-1 Friday afternoon.
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill baseball team (2-12, 0-1 SAC) was defeated by No. 22 Wingate (10-3, 1-0 SAC) by a score of 4-1 Friday afternoon.
Wingate opened the scoring in the first, plating two runs. Brett Adams' double to left center scored Michael Dansky. Adams later crossed home off of an Andrew McKay RBI single to right.
In both the second and third innings, the Bulldogs added a run off of a RBI groundout.
Mars Hill plated their lone run of the game in the bottom of the fourth as Dawson Connell's RBI groundout scored Jordan Lathe.
Dansky, McKay, and Josh Haggerty led the Bulldogs with two hits apiece. Lathe led the Lions with two hits.
Mitch Farris struck out 10, allowing one run on two hits in seven innings for the win. Cal Riehl earned the save, allowing one hit in two innings thrown.
The South Atlantic Conference series continues on Sunday, February 26 at Henderson Field.
