Mars Hill Sweeps Weekly DSC Awards
Cowx, Price, Thilo honored by DSC
Wingate, N.C.---Mars Hill College senior attack T.J. Cowx (Delta, British Columbia) has been named the Deep South Conference Offensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday. Mars Hill senior goalie Dylan Price (York, Pa.) has been named the Defensive Player of the Week, while Taylor Thilo (Greensboro, N.C.) is the Freshman of the Week.
Cowx wins the award for the second week in a row. He had seven goals and four assists to lead the Lions to a pair of wins on the week. Cowx had two goals and two assists in the 12-3 win over Lees-McRae. He notched five goals and two assists in the 17-3 conference victory over Florida Tech. Cowx added seven ground balls on the week.
Price allowed only four goals on the week, helping the Lions improve to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the DSC. He piled up 13 saves in the Lees-McRae win, surrendering only three goals. Price played the first three quarters in the Florida Tech game, allowing just one goal while compiling six saves. On the week, Price had 19 saves and six ground balls while allowing just four goals.
Thilo notched a pair of hat tricks in Mars Hill's two victories last week. He started his week with three goals and an assist against Lees-McRae. Thilo had three goals and two assists in the win over Florida Tech. He also had nine ground balls on the week, while causing four turnovers.
