Price Honored as DSC Defensive Player of the Week
Wingate, N.C.-- Mars Hill goalie Dylan Price has been named DSC Defender of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Price had 15 saves in Mars Hill's 8-7 win over conference foe Florida Southern. He allowed seven goals while posting a save percentage of 68 percent. Price also collected five ground balls in the victory, as the nation's 12th-ranked team improved to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the Deep South Conference.
Catawba College senior attack Braden Artem (Acton, Ontario) has been named the Deep South Conference Offensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday afternoon. Saint Leo's Chris Caiazza (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) earns Freshman of the Week honors.
Artem helped lead Catawba to a pair of road victories last week, keeping the Indians undefeated on the season. He had a goal and handed out three assists in a 9-8 victory at Pfeiffer. Artem had three goals and two assists as the Indians rallied for a 15-13 win at Belmont Abbey. He had a key goal against the Belmont Abbey, answering a Crusader goal just seven seconds after going down 13-11. The Indians tied it 40 seconds later and won it with two goals in the final seven minutes. Artem notched four goals and five assists on the week, while also picking up five ground balls.
Caiazza tallied four goals in two games for Saint Leo last week,
which included scoring the game-winning goal in overtime against
Rollins. Caiazza scored two goals against the Tars while also
causing a turnover. He netted two goals against third-ranked
Limestone to cap his week. Caiazza ranks third on Saint Leo's team
in goals and points.
