Baseball Falls to Anderson
The Lions’ baseball team lost to SAC rival Anderson Friday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.
ANDERSON, S.C. – The Lions' baseball team lost to SAC rival Anderson Friday afternoon at Memorial Stadium. Mars Hill fell to 1-6 overall and 0-4 in the league. The Trojans improved to 4-4 overall, 2-2 in the conference.
The Trojans scored two runs in their first at-bat when Kyle Bailey crossed the plate on a wild pitch and then Garrett Bernardo scored on a fielder's choice. Anderson added the game's final score in the third inning after Cooper singled through the right side to plate Bailey.
David King and Lance Edwards led MHU with two hits apiece. Caleb Edwards suffered the loss (0-2) pitching seven innings allowing just three hits while striking out six batters. Chandler Young threw the final inning for the Lions.
Kyle Bailey led the Trojans going 3-4 with two runs scored. David Thompson threw seven innings scattering five hits to pick up the win (1-1) on the mound. He struck out seven batters. Michael Skelly threw the last inning to obtain his second save of the season.
The teams will conclude the three-game series tomorrow with a double-header beginning at noon.
