Baseball Loses a Pair of One-Run Games at LMU
Mars Hill lost two, one run games to Lincoln Memorial Saturday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference baseball action Saturday at Lamar Hennon Field.

HARROGATE, Tenn. – Mars Hill lost two, one run games to Lincoln Memorial Saturday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference baseball action Saturday at Lamar Hennon Field. The Lions took their season record to 14-18 overall and 5-14 in the SAC. The Railsplitters improved to 20-17 on the season, 12-10 in the league.
Game 1: LMU 3, MHU 2 (10 innings)
Rayshelon Carolina led the Lions at the plate in game one going 3-5 with an RBI. Dalton Eisenbath followed going 1-2 with the team's other RBI. Nick Villalobos suffered the loss (1-2) pitching in the tenth inning for MHU.
Kyle Floyd and Dominic Morabito tallied three hits apiece to pace LMU. Morabito added an RBI. Ryan Burlison picked up the win (1-1) throwing 3.2 innings in relief.
The teams traded scores in the first inning. Eisenbath hit a ball through the left side to plate Evan Rogers who reached on a hit by pitch and then stole second base.
Carolina then singled through the right side to drive in Jacob Rand who walked to lead off the at-bat. A Wes Neiderland single in the bottom of the ninth frame scored Jean Rodriguez and send the game into extra innings. After LMU held the Lions scoreless in the top of the tenth, the Railsplitters scored the game winner when Burlison drew a bases loaded walk to send Floyd home for the game winning run.
Game 2: LMU 4, MHU 3
Rogers and Carolina led the Lions offensively in the nightcap as both players tallied two hits and one run scored. Eisenbath and Dylan Powers both recorded a hit and a RBI apiece in the loss. Alec Bivens took the loss (2-1) on the mound for MHU throwing 4.2 innings. He did not allow an earned run while scattering only three hits.
Neiderland led LMU going 2-2 with a triple, three RBI and a run scored. Grant Painter obtained the win (4-4) on the hill throwing 6.2 innings allowing just two earned runs. He struck out four batters.
Rogers scored on an error in the third inning before LMU scored a pair of runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to account for all of their scoring in the contest. Neiderland had a two-RBI triple in the Railsplitters fourth at-bat.
Eisenbath drew a bases loaded, two-out walk in the last inning to move Ky'Rawn Whitfield, who pinch ran for David King, to the plate and decrease the Lions' deficit to one run. Wes Todd was able to get the Lions' next batter to hit a pop fly to seal the win as he picked up his first save on the year.
Mars Hill will host North Greenville on Tuesday, April 7. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
