Lacrosse Runs Past Lenoir-Rhyne, 25-6
Farmer scores six times
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Lions' lacrosse team rolled past Deep South Conference rival Lenoir-Rhyne College, 25-6, Saturday afternoon at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. No. 9 MHC keeps their unbeaten streak alive at 3-0 while the Bears slipped to 0-3 on the season.
Tyler Farmer scored six goals and had one assist while Eric Benesch supplied his offense with five assists to pace the offensive attack. Kile Garrett added four goals while Tim Burns and Benton Souers came off the bench to score three goals apiece. Souers added two assists in the win. Dylan Price played 43:07 in goal for MHC and made eight saves. Price allowed two goals. Jesse Mimken played the final 16:53 in the net for the Lions and made three saves while allowing four goals to the Bears.
Robert Darrow and Anthony Mangili led L-R scoring three and two goals in the loss, respectively. Tyler Kotch added the Bears final score. Patrick Stasio played 46:23 in goal for L-R and made 12 saves. Gus Brighton finished in the net for the Bears and made eight saves.
The game was never close. MHC jumped out to a 3-0 lead and never looked back. The Lions led 8-2 after the first quarter and enjoyed a 14-2 advantage at halftime. MHC won the third stanza 3-1 and the last quarter 8-3 to make the final tally 25-6 in favor of the host school.
MHC outshot the Bears, 56-28. They beat L-R in ground balls, 38-22 and won 21-31 face-offs. MHC was 3-7 in extra man opportunities.
Mars Hill will host Mercyhurst on Friday, March 4. The game is
scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
