Pfeiffer Beats MHU with Late Comeback
The Lions’ baseball team lost a 9-4 decision to Pfeiffer late Saturday night at Sparrow Stadium on the campus of Francis Marion University.
FLORENCE, S.C. – The Lions' baseball team lost a 9-4 decision to Pfeiffer late Saturday night at Sparrow Stadium on the campus of Francis Marion University. The game saw the first pitch at 10:10 p.m. and the final out was recorded at 12:48 a.m.
Adam Daniel led Mars Hill (0-2) going 1-3 at the plate with two RBI and a double. Andy Runion went 2-3 with a run scored while Jacob Rand also went 2-3 at the plate. Nick Villalobos took the loss (0-1) on the mound pitching an inning in relief.
Jon Gray led the Falcons (1-0) going 2-5 with three RBI, two triples and the same number of runs scored. John Elwood was 1-4 with two RBI and a double. Ethan Greene picked up the win (1-0) for Pfeiffer on the hill throwing six innings allowing eight hits and four runs.
MHU jumped out to a 3-0 lead after three at-bats highlighted by a two-RBI double from Dalton Eisenbath in the third inning. Pfeiffer cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the third on a two-RBI double by Elwood.
The teams plated single runs in the fourth and fifth inning to make the score 4-3 in favor of the Lions before the Falcons exploded for five runs in the six inning on six hits and two MHU errors. Gray had two RBI in the at-bat for Pfeiffer. A triple by Gray in the seventh frame drove in Dylan Goodman to make the final tally 9-4.
Mars Hill will face the host school, Francis Marion, Sunday at 12 p.m.
