Edwards Named NCBWA Regional Pitcher of the Week
Mars Hill’s Caleb Edwards was selected the National Collegiate Baseball Writer’s Association Southeast Region Pitcher of the week.
DALLAS, Texas – The National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association released its weekly NCAA Division II Regional Players of the Week awards of the season for the week ending on March 9.
Mars Hill's Caleb Edwards was selected the Southeast Region Pitcher of the week. Edwards, a 6-0, 260-pound left-handed pitcher from Winston-Salem, N.C. (East Forsyth High School) tossed his second-career complete game on Saturday at Carson-Newman, allowing just a single earned run in nine innings while striking out 10 in a 3-1 Mars Hill victory. The lefty fired 126 pitches in the performance – 86 going for strikes. He allowed only six hits and one walk. On the season, Edwards is 4-1 with a 2.01 ERA that ranks fourth in the league.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Howser Award Player of the Year, Regional Player of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors preseason All-America awards, publication and writing contests.
