Four Lions Earn SAC Baseball Honors
Four Mars Hill players have earned South Atlantic Conference baseball postseason honors. Infielder Evan Rogers and pitcher Caleb Edwards were named to the All-SAC team, while infielder Dalton Eisenbath and outfielder Tommy Scala earned spots on the SAC Gold Glove team.
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Four Mars Hill players have earned South Atlantic Conference baseball postseason honors, announced on Wednesday by the league office. Infielder Evan Rogers and pitcher Caleb Edwards were named to the All-SAC team, while infielder Dalton Eisenbath and outfielder Tommy Scala earned spots on the SAC Gold Glove team.
Rogers was named All-SAC Second Team following a sophomore season where he led the team with a .324 batting average, 32 runs scored and 57 hits. Rogers led Mars Hill with 17 multi-hit games and had a 10-game hitting streak.
Edwards was named All-SAC Honorable Mention. Edwards won a team-high six games with a 3.12 ERA. In his final start of the season on Friday, Edwards scattered five hits over seven innings while allowing one run with nine strikeouts in a 4-3 victory over Tusculum. Edwards was named the NCBWA Southeast Region Pitcher of the Week and SAC Pitcher of the Week following a complete game, six-hit performance against Carson-Newman on March 8 in which he struck out eight batters.
Eisenbath started all 45 games at first base for the Lions and made 307 putouts, fourth-highest in the SAC. Eisenbath made one error in 328 chances and had a .997 fielding percentage.
Scala started in 38 games in center field, making 95 putouts with just one error for a .990 fielding percentage. Scala also recorded six assists.
Lincoln Memorial's Josh Coker was named the SAC Player of the Year, with Catawba's Craig Brooks receiving Pitcher of the Year honors. Catawba's Jim Gantt and Wingate's Jeff Gregory shared SAC Coach of the Year accolades.
