MORRISTOWN, TENN. – The Mars Hill men's golf team currently sits in second place overall following day one of the Walters State Fall Classic at The Country Club. The Lions, who shot a combined team score of 309 (+21), trail host, Walters State, by two strokes. Fellow South Atlantic Conference teams Lincoln Memorial, Carson-Newman, and Tusculum round out the field of five in that order.
Adam Lumley shot a first-round 73 (+1) to lead the field, while teammates Harry Butler and Dalton Thompson finished the day in a tie for 11th following an 18-hole rounds of 78 (+6). Stephen Thomasson fired an 80 (+8), good enough for a tie for 17th, and Callum Ritchie rounded out the Lions five with a 27th place 85 (+13).
The Lions will return to the links tomorrow morning to finish the two-day tournament.
