GREENEVILLE, TENN. – The Mars Hill men's golf team currently sits in fifth place overall following day one of the Tusculum Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Link Hills Country Club. The Lions shot a team total of 296 (+12) in the opening round, sitting five strokes behind third place Brevard and Northwestern Ohio, who both finished the day with a 291 (+7). Host Tusculum fired a 285 (+1) to sit atop the leaderboard after the initial 18 holes.
Adam Lumley is in fifth place individually after an even-par 71 to open the tournament followed by Callum Ritchie, who shot 74 (+3) on the day. Francesc Llinas fired a 75 (+4), while Harry Butler and Stephen Thomasson concluded the day with a 76 (+5) and 79 (+8), respectively.
Four players are tied at the top of the individual standings after shooting a one-under 70 during the first round of action.
The Lions will return to action tomorrow morning in hopes of gaining ground on the leaders during the second and final round of the invitational.
