Lions Prevail Over Tusculum
The Mars Hill men’s soccer team earned their first win of the season with a 1-0 triumph over Tusculum on Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Field.

GREENEVILLE, TENN. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team earned their first win of the season with a 1-0 triumph over Tusculum on Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Field. Mars Hill improves to 1-4 on the season and 1-1 in South Atlantic Conference play while Tusculum drops to 2-3 and 1-1 in the league.
After a scoreless first half, Tusculum had a golden opportunity in the 48th minute on a Guillermo Lazcano shot, but Tom Allison was Johnny-on-the-spot for the Lions with a header to keep the ball from crossing the goal line and keeping the Pioneers off the scoreboard.
In the 52nd minute, Cody Foreman's shot from 33 yards out found the back of the net for his first goal of the season and a 1-0 Mars Hill lead.
Tusculum outshot Mars Hill 14-9 with both teams firing four shots in the opening half.Chris Mitchell made five saves for the Lions, while Ashley Elsey made three saves for the Pioneers.
Mars Hill returns to action on Wednesday evening, hosting No. 25 Lincoln Memorial at 7:30 p.m.
