Plougmand nets hat-trick in Mars Hill's dominant 5-1 win over King

BRISTOL, Tenn. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team (3-0) won their third straight contest, defeating King (0-1-1) by a score of 5-1 Wednesday evening.
Defending South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week Peter Plougmand netted the natural hat-trick in a span of 8:03 to put the Lions up 3-0 just 16 minutes into the game.
His first goal came in the eighth minute of play while his second came just over six minutes later. His sixth goal of the season was scored less than two minutes after that, capping a breakaway opportunity. Filip Jensen and Kevonte Willoughby-Williams picked up assists on his first and second goals, respectively.
Four minutes after Plougmand's hat-trick, Jorge Perez Prada scored his second of the campaign to put the Lions up by four less than 20 minutes into the contest. Luke Manley assisted on the goal.
In the 33rd minute, King's Kenneth Walton broke up the shutout bid with a shot that snuck underneath the cross bar.
Late in the first half, Riley Browning scored his first of the season, reestablishing the four-goal advantage for Mars Hill. Connor McConkey collected his first career point with the assist.
Mars Hill outshot King 18-4. Collin Teperino made nine saves in the losing effort while Brennan Whalen stopped two for his third win of the season.
The Lions open their home slate on Saturday, September 3 when they host North Greenville inside Meares Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
