Wingate completes second half comeback, downs MHU

WINGATE, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team (5-5-2, 2-4-1 SAC) was defeated by Wingate (5-3-4, 4-1-3 SAC) by a score of 2-1 Saturday afternoon.
In the 33rd minute, David Straube opened the scoring with his third of the season. Filip Jensen earned the assist, his team-leading fifth on the year.
Wingate struck twice in the second half with both goals coming from Owen Marshall. He scored his third of the year in the 58th minute and netted the game-winner in the 74th. Gavin Prim and Mattia Ditommaso picked up the assists.
The Bulldogs outshot Mars Hill 11-5 with Marshall and Tim Martins leading all players with three attempts. Kevonte Willoughby-Williams led the Lions with two.
Aleksa Janjic made one save for the win while Brennan Whalen made two in the losing effort.
The Lions return to the pitch on Tuesday, October 11 when they face Anderson at 7:30 p.m. on the road.
