WINGATE, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team (8-7-2, 5-5-1 SAC) was defeated by No. 18 Wingate (10-3-5, 6-1-4 SAC) by a score of 3-0 Saturday afternoon.
Emil Svenander opened the scoring in the 17th minute with this sixth of the season.
Wingate then struck twice in the second half, first in the 73rd minute as Guilherme Fontes doubled the Bulldogs' lead. Svenander netted his second of the contest with 3:46 remaining.
The Lions outshot Wingate 13-8 on the afternoon with Kevonte Willoughby-Williams leading all players with six attempts.
Aleksa Janjic stopped five shots in the win while Brennan Whalen made two saves.
