Wingate postgame interviews: Clifton, Holmes, Richt
MARS HILL, N.C. - Mars Hill erased two 21-point deficits (21-0 and 35-14) to defeat the defending South Atlantic Conference champion Wingate, 42-35, on Saturday's Homecoming Game at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. Head coach Tim Clifton, wide receiver Dimitri Holmes, and quarterback Jon Richt spoke postgame on the victory that kept the Lions (5-1, 3-0 SAC) in first place in league standings.
In the game, Richt broke the Mars Hill record (which he held) for completions in a game (28), total offense in a game (380 yards: 339 passing, 41 rushing) and tied the career passing touchdown mark (39). Holmes tied his own record for most receptions in a game (11), and tailback Jonas Randolph moved into third place on the SAC's all-time rushing list (4,424 yards).
