Harris records career-high, fifth double-double against Trojans

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (6-8, 1-4 SAC) was defeated by Anderson (10-3, 2-2 SAC) by a score of 72-61 Saturday afternoon.
The Trojans led 17-14 after the first 10 minutes of play as the duo of Diamond McDowell and Ashlyn Sheridan each netted seven points for Anderson. Aaliyah El recorded five points and five rebounds for Mars Hill while Tateyoina Harris scored four and added five rebounds.
Anderson held the Lions to nine points in the second while scoring 19 as Sheridan led the team with six. Harris led the Lions with four points and three rebounds.
Maddie Gillie led all players with seven points in the third while McDowell and Nelliah Wilson led Anderson with six points apiece.
In the final quarter of play, the Lions outscored Anderson 22-16. Harris led all players with 10 points while El and Gillie each added five. The Lions shot a team-high 53 percent from the floor.
Zamiya Passmore led the Trojans with 18 points while Wilson added 13 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Sheridan ended the contest with 17 followed by 15 from McDowell.
Harris set a career-high with 18 points while adding 13 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the year. Both El and Gillie netted 12 points while El pulled down 13 rebounds for the double-double.
Mars Hill returns to the floor on Wednesday, January 10 when they host Coker. Tipoff inside Chambers Gymnasium is set for 5:30 p.m.
