Lions prevail in OT thriller versus Limestone

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill women's basketball team (8-10, 3-5 SAC) defeated Limestone (8-9, 2-7 SAC) by a score of 54-51 in overtime Saturday afternoon inside Chambers Gymnasium.
The Lions were led by Jo Snow's five points in the extra frame and Jaquoria Rucker's four en route to their second straight South Atlantic Conference win.
Mars Hill outscored Limestone 15-8 in the first quarter of play with Snow's six points leading the Lion offense. Tateyoina Harris added five points and a quarter-high four rebounds. Kalisha Hill led the Saints with four points.
The Saints responded in the second, pulling within one before the half. Outscoring the Lions 13-7, they were led by Hill's eight points. Maddie Gillie led the Lions with three points followed by a pair from both Aaliyah El and Jadiyah Peoples.
The Lions outscored Limestone 14-13 in the third as the duo of Harris and Peoples each netted four points for Mars Hill. The Saints were once again led by Hill's five points.
Limestone, in the fourth, outscored Mars Hill 11-9 to force the overtime frame. Reagan Kargo led the team with four points. Harris led all players with five points, also pulling down four rebounds.
Hill led all players with 21 points and 13 rebounds for the double-double. Snow led the Lions with 15 points. Harris posted another double-double on the year with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
The Lions travel to Newberry on Wednesday, January 24 to face the Wolves. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
