Gillie, Harris named to All-SAC Teams
Maddie Gillie named to All-SAC Third Team. Tateyoina Harris named to All-SAC Freshman Team.
ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team landed two on All-South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball teams, as released by the league Monday morning.
Junior guard Maddie Gillie was selected to the All-SAC Third Team while freshman forward Tateyoina Harris was named to the All-SAC Freshman Team.'
Gillie, a native of Rutherfordton, North Carolina, was named the statistical champion in three-pointers per game, averaging 3.28. During her junior campaign, Gillie set career-highs in field goals made (150), shooting percentage (40.7), three-pointers made (96) and percentage (37.6). She also set a career-high with 457 points.
She was the only Lions to start and appear in all 30 games this season, totalling over 1,069 minutes of play. She figured in double-figures in 24 games, including back-to-back 30+ point efforts in wins over Tusculum and UVA Wise. She set a career-high with 32 versus the Pioneers and in the following game over the Cavaliers, eclipsed the 1,000 career points mark.
Harris, a native of Camden, South Carolina, was a force on both sides of the ball in her debut season. She led the team with 278 rebounds, 114 offensively. With those numbers, she greatly contributed to the Lions being named the statistical champions in team rebounds per game with 43.48. She also led the team with 59 blocks and was named the statistical champion in blocks per game (2.04)
Harris ranked second on the team with 314 points and led the Lions with 11 double-doubles on the season.
