JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (13-17, 7-13 SAC) concluded their 2023-24 season on the road versus Carson-Newman, (20-8, 14-6 SAC), falling by a score of 94-60 Saturday afternoon.
In identically scored first and second quarters, the Eagles put up 22 points while holding the Lions to 14. Braelyn Wykle led all players with eight points in the first followed by six apiece from Lindsey Taylor and Makayla Avery. Naja Ngongba led the Lions with five points in the opening 10 minutes.
Wykle paced the Eagles' offense once again in the second, leading the team with six points. Maddie Gillie led the Lions with five points followed by four from Jo Snow.
Carson-Newman put up a game-high 33 points in the third, holding Mars Hill to 12, as they hit nine three-pointers in the quarter. Wykle hit 7-of-9 threes for 23 points. Elyseia Brown led Mars Hill with six points.
In the final quarter, Mars Hill outscored Carson-Newman 20-17 with Aaliyah El's seven points leading the way.
Wykle ended the contest with 45 points, hitting 13 threes.
Three Lions' starters ended the night with double-digit points with El's 13 leading the way. Snow added 12 while Gillie added 11 points.
