Women’s Soccer Wins Season Opener
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Lions' women's soccer team won their season opener 2-0 over Tennessee Wesleyan College, Thursday night in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
After a scoreless first half, McKay Sharpe scored from 10 yards out on a pass from Catherine Watkins-Banks at the 52:50 mark. Rachel Weber added an insurance goal at the 82:40 mark on a cross from Salem Woody. That would be all the scoring the match would see.
Shots were tied at nine apiece. Corner kicks were also knotted at four each. Chelsea Parker played all 90 minutes for the Lions in goal and made five saves. Kristen Davis also played the entire match in the net for TWC and made a pair of saves.
Mars Hill will play at Montreat College on Saturday. Match time is set for 3 p.m.
