Women’s Soccer Loses to Limestone
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Lions' women's soccer team lost to Limestone College, 3-1 at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium Tuesday night. Mars Hill fell to 6-8-1 on the season while the Saints improved to 9-5 on the year.
Ashley Alderin-Fleagle scored the first goal of the match on a header from a cross by Dominique Evans at the 4:44 mark to give the Saints a 1-0 advantage. Vanessa Jarrett added the Saints second goal of the match at the 30:02 mark. She scored off a direct kick from 30 yards out. The teams took that score into the locker room at the intermission.
Alderin-Fleagle scored her 14th goal of the season at the 47:52 mark to put Limestone ahead, 3-0. The goal was unassisted. Catherine Watkins-Banks put the Lions on the board in the 63rd minute when she scored off a rebound. Grace Lancaster assisted the goal. That was the last goal in the contest.
Mars Hill outshot the Saints 13-9. Corner kicks were tied at 4-all. Corrine Roberts played all 90 minutes in goal for MHC and made five saves. Kristin Alderin-Fleagle also played the entire match in goal for the Saints and made six saves.
Mars Hill will host SAC foe Carson-Newman College on Saturday night. Match time is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start
