Women’s Soccer Wins at Bluefield
BLUEFIELD, Va. - Mars Hill's women's soccer team picked up their third shutout of the season with a 2-0 victory at Bluefield College Wednesday night. The Lions improved to 3-0-1 while the Rams fell to 0-4 on the season.
It did not take long for MHC to get on the board. Cara Woolford scored on a cross from Miranda Reasoner at the 2:07 mark to give the Lions a 1-0 advantage. That was all the scoring the first half would see.
Catherine Watkins-Banks added an insurance goal with just over eight minutes left in the match when she scored off a pass from Leah Taylor.
The Lions outshot the Rams, 23-5 and had six more corner kicks (7-1) than Bluefield. Becca Sellars played all 90 minutes in goal for MHC and made four saves. Tracy Muncy also played the entire contest in the net for the Rams and made seven saves.
MHC will host Coker College on Sunday afternoon. Match time in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium is set for 2 p.m.
