Lions drop both contests versus L-R
The Mars Hill baseball team (14-21, 8-9 SAC) hosted games two and three of a weekend SAC series against Lenoir-Rhyne (30-7, 10-5 SAC) on Saturday afternoon.

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill baseball team (14-21, 8-9 SAC) hosted games two and three of a weekend SAC series against Lenoir-Rhyne (30-7, 10-5 SAC) on Saturday afternoon.
Game One
The Lions lost game one by a score of 19-7.
The Lions jumped out to an early four-run lead through the first two innings thanks to a Trey Putnam triple to right center, followed by a Ruben Trillo single to score him. In the second inning, a Trillo sacrifice fly plated Alex Naran after he reached base by a throwing error.
Lenoir-Rhyne's offense responded in the third and fourth innings by putting seven runs on the board in each. The Bears launched four home runs over the spurt. Late in the game, Jordan Lathe belted a two-run homer to left field, but the Lions' comeback effort fell short.
Barrett Williams started the game for the Lions, throwing 2.2 innings, and was given the loss. Lenoir-Rhyne's Joshua Lanham threw four complete innings, earning the win.
Game Two
The Lions fell in game two by a score of 4-3.
In the second inning, Lenoir-Rhyne was able to jump out to an early three-run lead due to an Erick Ramirez RBI single and a Bryce Strober two-run triple in the left center gap.
In the bottom of the fourth, Tyler Lala sent a home run deep over the left field wall to put the Lions on the board, followed by a Lathe single to score Kyle Jenkins, bringing the game within one.
The game remained tight with Lenoir-Rhyne scoring a lone run in the sixth, however, the Lions were unable to rally back. A Jenkins sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh scored Chapel Matson.
AJ Chacon started for the Lions, striking out three batters over 5.1 innings and was given the loss. Andrew Patrick earned the win for the Bears, throwing four innings, while Ben Friebel closed the game to earn a save.
The Lions take to the road Tuesday, as the travel to Greeneville, Tennesse to take on the Pioneers of Tusculum. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
