
Lions drop game one of weekend series versus Catawba
The Mars Hill baseball team (14-23, 8-10 SAC) traveled to Catawba (23-15, 12-4 SAC) to oepn their weekend series, dropping game one by a score of 11-3.

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Mars Hill baseball team (14-23, 8-10 SAC) traveled to Catawba (23-15, 12-4 SAC) to open their weekend series, dropping game one by a score of 11-3.
The Indians jumped out to an early three-run lead due to a pair of singles from Miller and Davis in the bottom of the first. The Indians would tack on seven more into the bottom of the sixth inning to bring the lead to 10 runs.
The Lions put runs on the board in seventh and eighth innings due to a Chad Sikes' sacrifice fly that plated Kyle Jenkins and a Tyler Lala two-run home run over the left field wall that plated Alex Naran, Lala's 12th of the year.
Sam Kaplan (4-3) started on the mound for the Lions, throwing four innings, and was given the loss. The Indians' Greg Brown (4-2) threw seven complete innings and was awarded the win.
Game two of the series is set for tomorrow, with first pitch set for 1 pm.
