Mars Hill downs Tusculum in midweek action
The Mars Hill baseball team (16-24, 9-11 SAC) hosted Tusculum (16-22) in non-conference midweek action on Wednesday, winning by a score of 6-5.

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill baseball team (16-24, 9-11 SAC) hosted Tusculum (16-22) in non-conference midweek action on Wednesday, winning by a score of 6-5.
The Lions leaped out to an early three-run lead in the bottom of the first inning, scoring runs from a pair of singles by Kyle Jenkins and Chad Sikes. The Pioneers responded in the following inning with a grand slam coming from the bat of Kyle Williams to give the Pioneers a one-run lead. In the bottom half of the inning, Jenkins belted a ball to deep left center to plate Tyler Lala to tie the game.
The Lions would tack on two more in the fourth from a double by Zach Weaver to ultimately seal the game.
Brian Smart took the bump to start the game for the Lions, striking out five through 4.2 innings. Cody Bruns earned the win in relief. Barrett Williams entered the game late, earning the save after one and a third innings pitched.
The Lions are back in action on Thursday, April 14 as they host Bloomsburg at 3 p.m. at Henderson Field.
