Lions open 2021-22 season at SAC/PBC Challenge

NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (0-1) fell to Georgia Southwestern (1-0) by a score of 81-54 in their season-opener to kickoff the SAC/PBC Challenge.
The Lions carried a 16-13 lead into the second quarter as Brianne Rosales and De'Ja Marshall led the team with five points apiece. In the second, Georgia Southwestern shot 40 percent from the floor, hitting four three-pointers. The Canes headed into halftime with a 36-31 lead as Jacquelyn Levay led the team with nine points.
Mars Hill was outscored 45-23 in the second half, highlighted by the Canes shooting over 66 percent in the fourth, collecting 24 points.
Georgia Southwestern shot nearly 40 percent on the day and converted on over 31 percent of their three-pointers. Mars Hill shot just under 33 percent from the floor.
