CULLOWHEE, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team concluded their three-day, three-game road trip on Monday night, falling to Western Carolina by a score of 70-51.
Despite outshooting the Catamounts in the first quarter, 44 percent to 30 the Lions found themselves down by three. A strong rebounding effort by Western Carolina--16-2--saw them carry a three-point advantage into the second where both teams 18 points apiece.
Zanah Boyd was responsible for eight of the second quarter points for Mars Hill while both Emily Novick and De'Ja Marshall added five points apiece.
In the second half, the Catamounts pulled away, outscoring the Lions 39-23. In the fourth quarter, they shot 67 percent from the floor and hit two of the three three-pointers they attempted.
