Lions fall to Catawba on Senior Day
The Mars Hill women’s basketball team (1-24, 1-22 SAC) was defeated by Catawba (21-4, 18-4 SAC) by a score of 87-45 Monday night.
MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill women's basketball team (1-24, 1-22 SAC) was defeated by Catawba (21-4, 18-4 SAC) by a score of 87-45 Monday night.
The Indians held a 55-33 lead after the first 20 minutes of play. They hit 53 percent of their shots from the floor, including 44 percent from beyond the arc, hitting eight in the half. Lyrik Thorne led all players with 14 points in the half followed by Janiya Downs' 11.
Kyla Daniels led the Lions with 11 points followed by Trinity Barkley's eight. De'Ja Marshall led all players with five rebounds in the half.
Catawba dominated in the second half, outscoring the Lions 32-12 to come away with the 87-45 win.
