Boyd nets 16 versus Indians at Catawba

SALISBURY, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (0-6, 0-4 SAC) was downed by Catawba (6-0, 4-0 SAC) by a score of 87-60 Saturday afternoon on the road.
De'Ja Marshall led all players with nine points in the first quarter as the Lions' shot a game-high 64 percent in the frame.
After playing a tight first quarter that saw the Lions trail 17-16, Catawba responded with a 31-point second quarter, shooting nearly 55 percent from the floor. The Indians hit six three-pointers in the 10 minutes with Mercedes Wampler and Jada Davie each hitting two.
Catawba added another 26 points, 12 from threes, in the third quarter. They shot nearly 53 percent from the floor with three players recording six points apiece. Kyla Daniels led the Lions with seven points in the frame.
Mars Hill outscored Catawba 17-13 in the final quarter with Zanah Boyd's eight points leading all players.
The Indians shot 46 percent from the floor to the Lions 44, but hit 12 of their 33 three-point attempts. They outrebounded Mars Hill 44-31 and forced 15 steals.
