Lions fall to Bears in return home

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill women's basketball team (1-15, 1-13 SAC) was defeated by Lenoir-Rhyne (5-10, 4-9 SAC) by a score of 74-57 Wednesday night.
The Bears carried a 43-18 advantage going into the second half after a dominant first half performance.
Lenoir-Rhyne hit nearly 70 percent of their shots in the first quarter and followed up by shooting nearly 60 percent in the second. Hanna McClung led all players with 13 points followed by Brandi Hudson's 10. The Bears hit six of their 10 three-pointers in the half.
The Lions shot just over 24 percent from the floor and hit just two of their 12 three-point attempts. Maddie Gillie led the Lions with 10 points, hitting both attempts from beyond the arc.
Gillie continued to be the top offensive performer for the Lions, ending the contest with 20; her second straight game with 20+ points. The duo of Hudson and McClung also continued to be the main offensive options for the Bears, ending the game with 18 and 15 points, respectively.
The Bears shot nearly 53 percent on the night while the Lions just shot 31.
