Lions felled by Trojans on road

ANDERSON, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (1-14, 1-11 SAC) was defeated by Anderson (10-8, 10-4 SAC) by a score of 74-44 Wednesday evening.
The Trojans ended the first frame up 27-9, hitting 58 percent of their shots and draining four three-pointers. Shameka McNeill led all players with 12 points while De'Ja Marshall led the Lions with six.
In a low scoring second quarter, Mars Hill edged Anderson 13-6 with Maddie Gillie's five points leading the way. The Lion defense forced Anderson to shoot just 12.5 percent from the floor.
The second half saw the Trojans outscore the Lions 41-22 to pick up their 10th win of the season. Samantha Michel led all players with eight points in the fourth quarter.
Anderson shot nearly 37 percent from the floor and hit five three-pointers to the Lions' 26 percent and lone made three. Three Trojans recorded double-digit rebounds as the team outrebounded the Lions 60-34.
