Queens outlasts Lions in final seconds

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill women's basketball team (0-8, 0-6 SAC) was defeated by Queens (2-4, 1-4 SAC) by a score of 68-65 Saturday afternoon inside Chambers Gymnasium.
The Lions outscored Queens 45-33 in the second half, highlighted by a late run in the fourth that saw the Lions take their first lead of the game with just over a minute to play. A driving basket by the Royals turned the momentum back in their favor as they held on for their first South Atlantic Conference win of the season.
The Royals used the three-ball in the first half to build their 35-20 lead as they converted on six of 11 attempts. Kalaya Hall hit four and ended the half with a game-high 16 points. Queens shot nearly 42 percent from the floor during the first half to the Lions' 20.7 percent.
Mars Hill outrebounded Queens 26-16, but were unable to convert on their offensive chances. Queens scored 12 points off of the fast break and 10 off of turnovers as they forced 14 first half Lion turnovers.
Queens shot 50 percent from beyond the arc, hitting 11 on the day. Mars Hill pulled down 51 rebounds to the Royals' 29 with De'Ja Marshall leading all players with 15 on the day.
