Mars Hill places over 100 student-athletes on 2017-18 SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll
A record 1,710 student-athletes, spanning each of the South Atlantic Conference's 11 member institutions and 20 sports, were named to the 2017-18 SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll. Mars Hill had 114 student-athletes on the list.
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) - A record 1,710 student-athletes, spanning each of the South Atlantic Conference's 11 member institutions and 20 sports, were named to the 2017-18 SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, the conference office announced today.
To be eligible for inclusion on the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, student-athletes must have competed in a sponsored championship sport and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher throughout the academic year.
"We are extremely proud of the academic accomplishments of our student-athletes in the SAC," said South Atlantic Conference Commissioner Patrick Britz. "In addition to being successful on the court and playing field, our student-athletes, coaches and administrators have worked very hard to ensure success in the classroom, and we are thrilled to recognize this accomplishment."
Lenoir-Rhyne led the South Atlantic Conference with 198 student-athletes on the honor roll. Tusculum came in at No. 2 with 196. In third was Catawba with 173, with Wingate coming in fourth with 167. At No. 5 was Newberry with 164, followed by Queens with 161 and Lincoln Memorial with 150. At No. 8 was Carson-Newman with 137 student-athletes on the list. Anderson placed ninth with 129, while Coker had 121 and Mars Hill had 114.
