Baseball Shutouts Pfeiffer

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Lions' baseball team won the three-game series against Pfeiffer by shutting out the Falcons 4-0, Sunday afternoon at Joe Ferebee Field. Mars Hill improved to 2-1 on the season while Pfeiffer fell to 1-2 on the year.
Dylan Powers and Hunter Merrill led the Lions at the plate with two hits each. Phillip Carroll and Logan Conley followed with one hit and one RBI apiece. Conley added a double. Tom Mastrodonato and Hunter Boydston combined for the shutout. Boydston threw the final five innings allowing just two hits to obtain the win (1-0).
The Lions went up 2-0 in the third inning after Rayshelon Carolina scored on a Falcon error and then Christian Stampler crossed the plate on a fielder's choice.
The Lions added two insurance runs in the sixth inning on three hits. Conley doubled to left field to plate Dalton Eisenbath and then Powers scored on a sacrifice fly by Carroll.
The Lions will host Kutztown in a four-game series this weekend. The teams will start the action at 12 p.m. on Saturday and 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
