Baseball Falls at Tusculum
Mars Hill lost to Tusculum 4-2 in South Atlantic Conference baseball action Friday night at Pioneer Park
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – Mars Hill lost to Tusculum 4-2 in South Atlantic Conference baseball action Friday night at Pioneer Park. The Lions fell to 26-16 overall and an even 11-11 in the league. The Pioneers improved to 30-11 on the year, 12-7 in the SAC.
Rayshelon Carolina and Logan Conley recorded the Lions' two hits in the loss. Conley's hit was a solo homerun. Zac Brown suffered the loss (2-4) for the Lions on the mound.
Kevin Victoriano led the Pioneers at the plate going 1-2 with two RBI and a homerun. Placido Torres threw a complete game allowing just one earned run while striking out 11 batters.
The Pioneers scored two runs in their first at-bat when Victoriano hit a two-run homerun to left field. A single by Carolina in the third inning scored Phillip Carroll and cut the Lions deficit to one run (2-1).
Conley tied the contest in the top of the fourth inning when he hit a solo homerun to center field. The Pioneers scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning to seal the win. Nick Lacina tripled to right field to plate Victoriano and then Lacina later scored on a fielder's choice.
The teams will conclude the three-game SAC series tomorrow. The first pitch is set for 1 p.m.
