Baseball Wins Series Over Brevard
The Lions won the three-game series against Brevard with a 6-4 victory over the Tornados on Sunday afternoon
BREVARD, N.C. – The Lions won the three-game series against Brevard with a 6-4 victory over the Tornados on Sunday afternoon at Gil Coan Field. Mars Hill improved to 11-3 on the season while Brevard fell to 5-7 overall.
Rayshelon Carolina went 4-5 with four RBI, a homerun, a triple and a run scored to lead MHU to victory. His triple in the eighth inning sent the winning run to the plate. Dylan Powers followed going 2-4. Dalton Eisenbath was 2-5 with a RBI, a double and a run scored. Drayden Williams threw the final three innings to pick up the win (3-0). He struck out three batters allowing just two hits and one unearned run.
Josh Hall led the Tornados offensively going 1-4 with a three-run homerun. Kody Spencer was 3-4 with a double. Hall suffered the loss (0-1) for Brevard on the mound.
Carolina started the game with a homerun to left field to give the Lions a 1-0 advantage, Eisenbath followed Carolina's lead, also hitting a solo shot in the fourth frame to extend the Lions' lead to 2-0.
Carolina singled in the fifth inning to send Phillip Carroll home and make the score 3-0 in favor of the visitors. Brevard tied the contest in their sixth at-bat on four hits highlighted by Hall's three-run homer.
Pat Quinn scored on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Smith in the seventh inning to give Brevard their first lead of the contest. The Lions won the game in their final at-bat scoring three runs on the same number of hits with two outs on the scoreboard. Lance Edwards singled to drive in Dustin Jones who pinch ran for Powers who reached base on a single. Carolina then tripled to plate Edwards and Logan Conley for the game winning runs. Williams set the next three ensuing Brevard batters down to seal the win for the Lions.
Mars Hill play at North Greenville on Tuesday, February 23. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
