Lions take three straight, down Cavaliers in four

WISE, Va. - The Mars Hill volleyball team (7-8, 5-4 SAC) defeated UVA Wise (8-9, 2-6 SAC) in four sets Friday night.
Despite dropping the first set late, 25-22, the Lions responded by taking the next three, capping off the match with a definitive 25-13 fourth set win.
After tying the match up at one set apiece, Mars Hill hit over .300 as a team in both the third and fourth sets, hitting a match-high .353 with 15 kills and just three errors.
Katilyn Grant was a force on both sides of the ball, leading all players with 15 kills and a season-high nine blocks. Jada Cannon and Ioana Poenaru each recorded double-doubles with Cannon recording 10 kills and 17 digs while Poenaru notched 11 kills and 11 digs.
Nikkayla Stewart followed behind Grant with eight blocks (1 BS, 7 BA) while Laela Jimenez led all players with 27 digs. Mackenzie Schmucker led all players with 25 assists.
Mars Hill returns home on Monday, October 21 when they face Georgia College & State University inside Chambers Gymnasium. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
