MHU rallies to five-set comeback win over Newberry
Lions win three straight sets to pick up clutch SAC win.

NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Mars Hill volleyball team (15-9, 12-5 SAC) defeated Newberry (8-14, 5-8 SAC) in five sets Friday evening on the road.
Mars Hill dropped sets one and two before hitting a match-high .279 in the third to force a fourth set. Neither team hit well in the fourth, but Mars Hill was able to hold the Wolves to a .000 hitting percentage and taking the fourth 25-21, like they did the third, and pushing the second straight match into five sets.
Mars Hill led 11-10 late and closed out the match strong, winning four straight points and their second straight five-setter.
Ioana Poenaru led the Lions with 11 kills and 18 digs for the double-double. Katilyn Grant added 10 kills followed by nine from Skylar Ogden. Grant added a team-high six blocks. Laela Jimenez led all players with 27 digs while Alyssa Kornegay led Mars Hill with 24 assists.
The Lions close out their regular season on Saturday, November 16 when they host Coker inside Chambers Gymnasium. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
