Mars Hill upsets Anderson in four, extends win streak to six
The 3-1 win marks the Lions' first over Anderson since 2016.
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill volleyball team (11-8, 8-4 SAC) defeated Anderson (14-8, 10-4 SAC) in four sets Tuesday night inside Chambers Gymnasium.
The Lions held Anderson to a -.006 hitting percentage on the night, recording 18 team blocks on the night.
Mars Hill took sets one and two, before dropping the third set late to the Trojans. Mars Hill bounced back in the fourth, hitting a match-high .256, committing just two errors in the frame. Anderson hit a -.047 in the final frame.
Ava Reeves led all players with 12 kills while Katy Smith led all players with 23 digs.
Ioana Poenaru and Nikkayla Stewart each knocked down 11 kills while Stewart led all players with nine blocks (2 BS, 7 BA). The duo of Timmons Yates and Katilyn Grant added six kills apiece while Grant and Poenaru added five blocks apiece.
Laela Jimenez led the Lions with 20 digs while Mackenzie Schmucker led the team with 20 assists.
The win over Anderson marks their first over six years against the Trojans. The Lions extend their win streak to six.
Mars Hill returns to action on Saturday, November 2 when they face Coker on the road. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
