BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team (2-0-1) drew 1-1 with Lees-McRae (0-1-2) Wednesday night on the road.
The first half saw Mars Hill outshoot Lees-McRae 7-3, but neither team was able to break through, entering the half still tied at 0-0.
Mirroring the Lions, Lees-McRae outshot Mars Hill 7-3, striking first in the 47th minute as Owen Harris finished off a Harrison Watts pass to give the Bobcats the lead.
In the 87th minute, Mars Hill tied the contest as Sam Bayly netted his first of the season. Nolan McMillen collected his second assist of the campaign on the game-tying tally.
Bayly led all players with four shots, three on target. Smith and Nils Schulze led the Bobcats with three shots apiece.
Jonathan Kienle made four saves while James Price made three. Both teams attempted 10 shots on the night.
Mars Hill opens South Atlantic Conference play on Saturday, September 14 when they take on Newberry on the road. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
