
Lions Roar to Victory: Mars Hill Defeats Southern Wesleyan, 3-1
Adrian Faus and Carrick Bromage netted their second goals in as many games in the Lions' 3-1 win over SWU.
Mars Hill, NC - In an exciting home match at Meares Stadium, the Mars Hill men's soccer team (4-0-1) pulled off a 3-1 victory against Southern Wesleyan (1-3), demonstrating their offensive strength and solid defense.
The Lions took the lead late in the first half with Sam Bayly scoring at 32:32. Nolan McMillen collected his third assist of the season. The goal set the tone for the rest of the game as Mars Hill dominated possession, ending the half with eight shots compared to Southern Wesleyan's three.
The Lions continued their offensive pressure in the second half. Adrian Faus extended the lead to 2-0 at 55:35, with an assist from Peter Plougmand. Just two minutes later, Carrick Bromage added another goal, his second in as many games, bringing the score to 3-0. Plougmand picked up his second assist on the night.
Southern Wesleyan made a late push for a comeback with a goal by Alberto Esquivel at 79:18, cutting the deficit to 3-1. However, the Lions' defense, led by goalkeeper James Price, held the Warriors to just the one goal, securing their fourth win of the campaign
Mars Hill finished the game with a total of 17 shots, 10 on target, while Southern Wesleyan managed just four shots with two on goal. The Lions excelled in corner kicks, earning eight compared to Southern Wesleyan's two.
Bayly, Faus, Bromage (1g) and Plougmand (2a) each ended the night with two points. Price earned his fourth win of the year.
Mars Hill returns to action on Saturday, September 21 when they take on Anderson on the road. Kickoff is set for 6:00 P.M.
