Peter Plougmand hits 20 goal mark with another two-goal performance.
MARS HILL, N.C. - The No. 25 Mars Hill men's soccer team (8-2-3, 5-2-2 SAC) drew 2-2 with the No. 7 ranked Coker Cobras (12-1-1, 8-1-1 SAC) Friday night inside Meares Stadium.
Coker scored two goals in the final 17:29 with Oskar Kaufmann's header tying the game at two with just 2:04 remaining. Coker outshot Mars Hill 13-9 in the second half to escape from Mars Hill with one point.
Mars Hill opened the scoring in the 23rd minute as Peter Plougmand scored his 19th of the season. Adrian Faus forced an errant Coker pass and after collecting the loose ball, fed Plougmand who buried the shot inside the near post.
Less than nine minutes into the second half, Faus' pass led Braxton Robinson up the near sideline. Robinson placed a perfect cross at the foot of Plougmand making a break towards the goal, deflecting in his second of the night and 20th of the season.
Plougmand, once again, sits atop NCAA Division II in goals (20) and points (46). Faus and Robinson were each credited with the primary assists on the respective tallies.
Plougmand led all players with six shots followed by three apiece from Sam Bayly and Bruno Fornes. Kaufmann led Coker with four attempts.
Charlie Walker made two saves for his first draw of the season while Logan Cassel made eight clutch saves, including five alone in the second half.
During halftime of the women's contest, seniors Parker Davis, James Price, Frederik Martin, Cam Watts, Peter Plougmand, Diego Fernandez, Max Gaither, Sam Bayly, Braxton Robinson, and Nolan McMillen were recognized and celebrated for their contributions to the men's soccer program.
