
Lions fall in series finale versus Lee
The Mars Hill baseball team (2-4) dropped game three of their weekend series versus Lee (5-2), falling by a score of 10-9 Sunday afternoon on the road.
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The Mars Hill baseball team (2-4) dropped game three of their weekend series versus Lee (5-2), falling by a score of 10-9 Sunday afternoon on the road.
Lee scored 10 unanswered runs from the fourth inning on to complete the come-from-behind win. The Flames scored four in the seventh, highlighted by a two-run home run off the bat of Cam Suto. Following three more runs in the eighth, Josiah Miller's solo home run in the bottom of the ninth tied the game at nine. Later in the frame, Brock Sisson walked it off with a single through the right side of the infield, scoring JJ Williams for the game-winning run.
The Lions plated seven runs in the top of the second. Carter Potts opened the scoring with a RBI double down the left field line to score Alex Naran. Later, Potts and Jaden James scored off of Chad Sikes' two-run double to right center.
With the bases loaded, Elec Yount drew a walk, allowing Toby Troutman to score. Sikes then scored off of a Lee wild pitch, pushing the Lions' lead to five. To cap off the scoring in the inning, Tail Gilbert doubled to left center, scoring Putnam and Yount.
In the fourth, the Lions added two more runs off of a Potts sacrifice fly and a James RBI single.
Gilbert led the team with three hits while Potts and Sikes posted a team-high two RBI.
The Lions take on Belmont Abbey in their seventh straight road game. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13.
