The Mars Hill baseball team (10-19, 3-11 SAC) was swept by Wingate (18-10, 10-4 SAC) by scores of 6-1 and 10-0 Saturday evening on the road.

WINGATE, N.C. - The Mars Hill baseball team (10-19, 3-11 SAC) was swept by Wingate (18-10, 10-4 SAC) by scores of 6-1 and 10-0 Saturday evening on the road.
GAME ONE: WU 6, MHU 1
Wingate plated six runs on six hits to take game one.
The Bulldogs hit three home runs in the contest, including the two-run shot from Brett Adams in the first to open the scoring.
In the top of the fourth, Toby Troutman's RBI single with the bases loaded plated Carter Potts for the Lions' lone run of the contest.
Up 3-1 entering the bottom of the seventh, Sean Barnett put the Bulldogs up by four after hitting a two-run home run. In the bottom of the eighth, Lane Rhodes hit a solo home run down the right field line for their sixth run of the game.
Jaden James recorded a team-high two hits while Barnett led all players with two hits and two RBI.
GAME TWO: WU 10, MHU 0
The Bulldogs scored 10 runs in the first four innings to clinch the series and the Saturday sweep.
Brett Adams once again opened the scoring with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first. Ricky Clark also hit a two-run shot in the bottom of the second.
In the bottom of the third, a pair of RBI doubles pushed the Wingate lead to seven. Sean Barnett capped off the scoring with a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth.
Alex Naran, Paul Martin, Trey Putnam, Chad Sikes, and Preston Holcomb recorded the five hits for Mars Hill.
The Lions close out the series on Sunday, March 24.
